Aaliyah Dana Haughton and Aarti Mann

Aaliyah Dana Haughton burst into the limelight in 1994 when she debuted her first album Age Ain't Nothing But a Number. The album, released when she only had fifteen years old, went Gold. It was made as an album that was heavily influenced by R. Kelly and it placed her in the limelight. In 1996, she debuted her sophomore album One In A Million with Jermaine dupri and Timbaland. It contained the number one hit track If Your Girl Only was aware. Aaliyah gained international fame for her R&B songs with the album. In 2000, she appeared alongside the legendary martial artist Jet Li as Jet Li in Romeo Must Die. Joel Silver, film producer and director of the movie Romeo Must Die spotted her at an awards ceremony. In 2002 she had the opportunity to appear in the vampire flick Queen of the Damned which was inspired by Anne Rice's Anne Rice novel. The Matrix Sequels saw her as Zee, after appearing on The Matrix Reloaded (2003) as well as The Matrix Revolutions that same year. In 2001, 1999 2002 and 2003, she was nominated to win four Grammy Awards. The actress is the first Indian American to be who was born in Connecticut. The stage name Mann is a short form of her marriage name Mankad. But, she has both Aarti Mann as well as Aarti Majumdar for professional names. Her acting career began in mid-2000's with minor appearances on television and in films. Apart from The Big Bang Theory, her notable other works include Leverage (2013) Suits (2014) as well as Grey's Anatomy (2017.) She has appeared in numerous commercials including Volvo's international car maker. Her daughter resides in Los Angeles and is pursuing acting.
